For David, the artistic process begins when he creates his own paint.  Using eggs, linseed oil, distilled water and pigment, David mixes his own paint as he goes along.

The mixing process is a very important part of David’s artistry, as the colours that appear and evolve often give him ideas for how his finished painting should look.

David favours 3b pencils, switching to 2b for delicate sketches, but admits he’ll “use any old thing lying around the studio!”  For his sketching expeditions, the 3b pencils allow him to capture dark shades and soft light.
